Tennis Club Committee Head Down River

The Club Committee recently headed downriver on two boats for their latest committee meeting. Despite protests from the Chairman, the Treasurer kicked off proceedings with an online quiz while we waited in the lock just outside Henley. Glued to our phones, the quiz highlighted the Club’s strong finances and our 41% growth in membership over the past four years, along with a review of the recent investments we have made, including LED floodlights, new artificial clay courts, and our move into pickleball and padel. Ladies’ Captain Liz Tripp had done her homework, as she topped the leader board with 368 points!

Order was eventually restored by the Chair with approval of past meeting minutes and refinements to the Club’s goals and objectives. This included discussions about the next possible investments, with all in agreement that we should focus on upgrading the clubhouse together with the installation of at least one more padel court. With business wrapped up, we all tucked into a delicious chicken and rice supper before weighing anchor and heading home.
