Padel at Wargrave

Padel came to Wargrave in 2025, and our second court is now open. Padel has been an instant success at the club, growing membership by 50% and helping us to win Berkshire Tennis Club of the Year.

We offer members padel coaching, club competitions and fun weekly padel sessions. Members can also book padel courts from just £10 per hour (£2.50 per player). 

Padel Events and Coaching for Members

With support from over 95% of members, our second padel court was opened on 31st May. List below are some of the padel events we have in store at the Club.  Also, if you are organising your own social padel sessions with 5-12 people,  you might want to use this simple tool to organise pairings and record scores. Please note that the tool is still under development.

In addition to the events below, we are also running a Club Padel and Pickleball competition (for all levels) on Sunday 20th September.  The event is for members only.  Please click here for more details and to sign up.

Sunday Intermediate Club Padel

Sunday Club Padel Session for intermediate-level players from 6.00pm to 7.30pm. Intermediate-level players are not beginners, and they are likely to have entered the Club Padel Championships...or currently play tennis for one of our teams. Run by club volunteers from 30th August to 11th October. For a max of 12 players.

Thursday Advanced Club Padel

Thursday Club Padel Session are designed for our more advanced-level players from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. Advanced-level players are likely to have performed well in the Club Padel Championships...or currently play tennis for our 1st, 2nd or 3rd teams. Run by club volunteers from 10th Sep to 15th October. For a max of 12 players.

Padel Coaching and Padel for Beginners

The Club currently offers weekly padel coaching sessions and private coaching for junior and adult members only. Book Your Padel Courts at Wargrave

Only Wargrave Tennis Club members can book our padel courts, from just £10 an hour off-peak (£2.50 per player) and £20 at peak times. Members can bring guests, who pay a £5 guest fee in addition to their share of the court hire. Guests can play up to four times, after which we expect them to join the Club.

Padel Competitions and Ladders

Over 100 players entered our 2026 Padel Championships, which run from June to September. We also have plans for an ongoing, year-round padel ladder competition and a social ladder competition based on the Americano scoring system, with players matched up against people of their ability.

Volunteers to Run More Club Sessions

Wargrave Tennis Club is a volunteer-run club, and that is one reason we can offer padel to our members at such low rates compared to commercial operators. If any member wants to run a regular daytime club session for other members, please message our Head Coach or our Padel Coordinator.

Padel Ladders

Following our inaugural Padel Club Championships, we are now running the Wargrave Padel Ladders!

This internal padel league is designed to help Wargrave Tennis Club members arrange padel matches with one another, while adding a healthy dose of competitive fun. You can also now download and use the SPOND App to help arrange matches and split the cost of court hire. Alternatively, join the relevant Club Padel WhatsApp group.

How the Padel Ladder Works?
  • The ladders run throughout the year.
  • Players enter individually and arrange matches with three others from their ladder using the free Rankade app (already covered by the Club).
  • Matches can be arranged using the WhatsApp Padel League group and also with the SPOND App that can be downloaded for free.
  • Each match should initially be played over three sets, with partners rotating after each set (so everyone partners with everyone once).
  • The top players will qualify for a Padel Ladder Finals Day in the Spring.
Which Ladder is Right for Me?

We’ve set up two ladders for the first season:

  1. New to Padel Social Ladder – ideal for those newer to the game or looking for more fun and relaxed competition.
  2. The Main Padel Ladder – for experienced players keen to test themselves and battle for the top spot.

Getting Started
  1. Download the Rankade app from your app store…this lets you record the results of your matches.
  2. Register with your full name and join your chosen ladder using the code sent to you via email.
  3. Join the relevant WhatsApp group in the Wargrave WhatsApp community(use the link and password sent via email or contact the Club membership secretary to be sent it again).
  4. Book a padel court (we suggest a minimum of 90 mins) via our website – a reminder that you can cancel your booking 6 hours before play without charge.
  5. Download the SPOND App – another way to help you organise matches and to split the cost of the court hire. You will need to join the relevant group for your ladder….codes will be sent via email.
  6. Play matches, have fun, meet new players, record results and watch the rankings evolve!
