We are absolutely delighted to announce that Wargrave Tennis Club has been awarded Berkshire Tennis Club of the Year 2025. The terrific news was delivered from Kim Sedwick, Berkshire LTA Awards Lead, who shared the following message:
“It gives me great pleasure to inform you that Wargrave Tennis Club has won the Berkshire Club of the Year Award 2025. Congratulations! We received a large number of nominations for the club from your members, all speaking highly of the playing opportunities and the new initiatives that the club has undertaken this year. The club has increased both membership and facilities in a very impressive way.”
This recognition is particularly special as it is based on nominations from our own members, reflecting the strength, inclusivity, and positive atmosphere of the club. More details on how our members feel about the Club can be seen in the great results from our Annual Members Survey, which was run last November.
The award will be formally presented at the Berkshire Tennis County AGM on Thursday 26 February at Cantley House Hotel.
Thank you to all our members, volunteers, coaches, and committee — this recognition truly reflects the collective effort and commitment that make Wargrave such a special club.

A Message from the Club Chair, Michael Simpson
“I am incredibly proud to hear this news and very much look forward to attending the AGM awards meeting to collect the award on behalf of our members and committee, who have worked so incredibly hard over the last four years.
During that time, the club has undergone significant change — including the installation of new LED floodlights, updates to our constitution and website, a new coaching provision, a move to artificial clay tennis courts, and the introduction of both pickleball and padel. These developments have helped transform the club and broaden our appeal within the local community.
As a result, membership has grown by nearly 70% overall, including a 40% increase in 2025 alone, with more than 200 new members joining the club since January last year. This award belongs to everyone who has contributed to that journey — particularly our members, who have supported and embraced the changes we have made. I am also incredibly grateful to our Parish Council for their continued support throughout this period.
Looking ahead, we have exciting plans for 2026, including proposals for a second padel court and extensions to our clubhouse to better meet the needs of our growing membership.”
