Wargrave Tennis Club has just hosted two fantastic days of junior competition, with an LTA Grade 5 Under-11 Boys tournament showcasing excellent emerging talent. This was followed by an Under-12 girls’ and boys’ competition featuring 14 highly talented players. Organised by Head Coach Ollie Brown, the events brought together young players from across the region, competing with great spirit and sportsmanship in windy spring conditions.

The U11s final was between Seth Baghai of East Gloucestershire Club and Adam Kaminski of Farnborough Lawn Tennis Club, with Adam taking the title. The U12s girls’ final was between Shanaya Yasin from Peppard Tennis Club and Elizabeth Nwawudu from Winchester, with Shanaya the eventual winner in a closely fought match. And in the boys U12 final, Curtis Yung from Gerrards Cross beat Max Mortimer from Henley in an equally close contest.

These two events mark the start of a busy summer at Wargrave, with Ollie set to run over 50 LTA junior tournaments at the club. If the quality of junior play at our first two tournaments is a judge, then the future of the game is in good hands.
