Wargrave Tennis Club’s Head Coach Ollie Brown enjoyed a terrific run at Wimbledon recently, reaching the semi-finals of the Men’s Doubles at the Over-30 Masters tournament. Ollie partnered his old friend Peter Avis, with whom he played university tennis at Bournemouth University.
The pair produced some excellent tennis on the famous Wimbledon grass, powering through their quarter-final 6–1, 6–1 to book a place in the last four. Their impressive run finally came to an end in the semi-final, where they faced the tournament’s top seeds.

Ollie has been Head Coach at Wargrave for nearly four years and has played a key role in the club’s remarkable growth during that period, with membership increasing by 80% to our current record level of 567 members. It’s fantastic to see our Head Coach competing so successfully himself — and not a bad place to reach a semi-final!
And Ollie wasn’t the only Wargrave player enjoying success at Wimbledon. Dawn Broomfield competed in the Over-65s, reaching the quarter-finals of the doubles and the round of 16 in the singles, while John Winston reached the round of 16 in both the singles and doubles in the Over-70s. A terrific showing from Wargrave on the Wimbledon grass!
