With ground works and installation complete, our second padel court is now open to members. Having two padel courts means that we will be hosting more Club competitions and padel social events, plus we are running a pilot weekly padel coaching on Tuesday evenings. And Club members can book the courts from just £10 an hour (£2.50 per player), compared to the £40 to £60 charged by commercial padel court operators. Padel at Wargrave Tennis Club
We opened our first padel at Wargrave in May 2025, and members love it! We had 80 players in our first padel competition, and we run a popular padel ladder, with over 90% of all members saying “padel has added value to the club”.
Plans to introduce a second padel court quickly followed. They were initially approved by 97% of members in a club-wide vote in March 2026 and were subsequently approved by both Wokingham Borough Council and Wargrave Parish Council in early April. Groundworks were completed by early May, and court installation was finally wrapped up on the 31st May.
Clubhouse Extension
To support a growing membership with the introduction of padel, we have also gained planning approval for a larger clubhouse. More details can be viewed in a design and access statement, together with this 3D interactive model. Once we have the final costs, we will seek final approval from our membership with the aim of starting work in early September.
