During our recent AGM, members were asked to vote on an idea to install one PADEL court at Wargrave, that could be booked by members for between £10 and £20 an hour (compared to the £40-£60 per hour charged by most commercial PADEL operators). The idea has gone done very well, with 68% voting in favour, compared to only 14% against.
This support was backed up by an online survey with non- tennis members who live in Wargrave, with over 90% saying they would consider joining the club if PADEL was introduced. The committee are now working on the detailed plans that will require formal approval from members in January plus planning consent from Wokingham Council.
If all goes well, we are hoping to have our first PADEL court at Wargrave from next April. PADEL is an incredibly popular tennis format that is played on a small court with tempered glass walls. Watch this space for more details.
