Padel at Wargrave

An exciting new addition to Wargrave Tennis Club in 2025 – a floodlit padel court available to members. The court has been an instant success and attracted many new members to the club from Wargrave and beyond.

And subject to support from the Wargrave Parish Council, we are currently working on plans for a second padel court from 2026.

How Padel Works at Wargrave

We launched padel at Wargrave in May 2025, and it has been an instant success, helping the Club to attract over 100 new adult members and growing overall membership by 42%.  The court is for members only, and can be booked from as little as £10 an hour (£2.50 per player), with any guests of members paying a £5 all-day guest fee.

We had over 80 members playing in our Club Padel Championships, and we now run a popular internal padel ladder with members booking and recording results using Spond and Rankade (see below for more details).

Nearly 60% of our members are now playing both tennis and padel, with new padel members enjoying the new clay tennis courts that we have installed at the Club.  For more details, visit our Padel question and answer page.

Padel Ladders

Now that the dust has settled on our excellent inaugural Padel Club Championships, it’s time for the next challenge – the Wargrave Padel Ladders!

This new internal padel league is designed to help Wargrave Tennis Club members arrange matches with one another, while adding a healthy dose of competitive fun. You can also now download and use the SPOND App to help arrange matches and split the cost of court hire. Alternatively, join the relevant Club Padel WhatsApp group.

Keep scrolling down the page to see the latest leader board from the main padel ladder.

How the Padel Ladder Works?
  • The ladders will run from October to March.
  • Players enter individually and arrange matches with three others from their ladder using the free Rankade app (already covered by the Club).
  • Matches can be arranged using the WhatsApp Padel League group and also with the SPOND App that can be downloaded for free.
  • Each match should initially be played over three sets, with partners rotating after each set (so everyone partners with everyone once).
  • The top players will qualify for a Padel Ladder Finals Day in the Spring.
Which Ladder is Right for Me?

We’ve set up two ladders for the first season:

  1. New to Padel Social Ladder – ideal for those newer to the game or looking for more fun and relaxed competition.
  2. The Main Padel Ladder – for experienced players keen to test themselves and battle for the top spot.
Getting Started
  1. Download the Rankade app from your app store…this lets you record the results of your matches.
  2. Register with your full name and join your chosen ladder using the code sent to you via email.
  3. Join the relevant WhatsApp group in the Wargrave WhatsApp community(use the link and password sent via email or contact the Club membership secretary to be sent it again).
  4. Book a padel court (we suggest a minimum of 90 mins) via our website – a reminder that you can cancel your booking 6 hours before play without charge.
  5. Download the SPOND App – another way to help you organise matches and to split the cost of the court hire. You will need to join the relevant group for your ladder….codes will be sent via email.
  6. Play matches, have fun, meet new players, record results and watch the rankings evolve!
