Tickets are now on sale for our Club Christmas Party at Hennerton Golf Club, on Fridays 4th December from 7pm to midnight. The party is open to all adult members; it’s a great chance to catch up with old friends, meet new ones and enjoy a fun evening away from the courts. Tickets are £40 per member (£45 for one guest) and include a welcome drink, a three-course meal with a glass of wine, followed by dancing to DJ Olie Maunsell – probably one of the planet’s finest Ibiza Sounds DJs! Places are limited to 70, with a maximum of two tickets per member, so book early to avoid disappointment. Menu choices, including vegetarian options, will be confirmed after bookings close.
Annual General Meeting – 28th October to 19th November
Our AGM process will begin on Wednesday 28th October with three weeks of online voting, followed by a final members’ meeting on Thursday 19th November, at Wargrave Cricket Club (thanks to Andy Meader). Members will be invited to vote on the annual accounts, committee elections, 2027 membership fees, and our plans to improve and extend the Clubhouse. We encourage everyone to take part, with full details and voting instructions to follow on 28th October.
Padel Americano Divisions – New Competition Underway
Our new Padel Americano Divisions competition is now underway, with a fantastic 110 members signed up across seven divisions, from our strongest players to those new to padel. A big thank you to everyone who has entered! The aim is to encourage more padel, meet and play with different members, and enjoy some friendly competition against players of similar ability. For those who missed out this time, we’ll look to welcome more players when the next round starts in January, with promotion and relegation helping everyone find their right playing level.
Tennis Singles Box League – New Round Started
The next round has started for our popular Singles Box League, running from 18th October to 12th December. Open to adult members of all abilities, it’s a great way to play more competitive singles tennis and meet other members of a similar standard. Players are allocated to boxes based on previous results or an assessment of their ability. Use MatchSpace’s “Chat to All” feature to arrange matches, with all results now automatically updating your LTA rating. Sign up to the Singles Box League here (or via “Club Feed” in MatchSpace).
Clubhouse Extension Plans – Latest Update
You can now view AI-generated artist’s impressions of our proposed clubhouse improvements on our website, with further details on the plans and investment costs to follow when our AGM process starts on 28th October. If approved by members, the project will be led by Paul Wills, a longstanding Club member with extensive experience in the building industry. Many thanks to everyone who has helped shape these alternative plans. And if we get the go-ahead, work will start towards the end of the year, with our improved clubhouse ready for the start of next season.
New Members and Potential Waiting List
Finally, we are delighted that our membership now stands at 608, an increase of over 80% since September 2024. For new members, please read the Club Welcome Letter, complete the feedback survey, and join our WhatsApp Community (password: shared via email). Also, download the MatchSpace App. With membership continuing to grow, we are considering introducing a waiting list once we reach 630 members. Any decision will take account of AGM feedback, court booking levels and membership-to-court ratios at other leading clubs.
